Beartooth Electric Raises Awareness with Utility Scam Awareness Day

Beartooth Electric has joined utilities across the nation to raise awareness of utility scams with Utility Scam Awareness Day on Wednesday, November 14, 2018. Utility Scam Awareness Day will be supported by a week-long social media campaign. Utility Scam Awareness Day is promoted by Utilities United Against Scams, a consortium of more than 100 electric, natural gas, and water utilities across the country formed to raise awareness and educate customers about scams. Many electric, water, and natural gas customers throughout the country are being targeted by impostor utility scams each day. Scammers typically use phone, in-person, and online tactics to target customers. Signs of potential scam activity include threats to disconnect service and request for immediate payment with a prepaid card. Beartooth Electric will continue to help spread awareness of the suspicious behaviors and the evolving tactics that scammers use to target BeartoothElectric member-owners. It is important that members call Beartooth Electric directly to check on the status of their accounts if they are ever unsure about the authenticity of a caller or the identity of a service worker, or if they suspect any fraudulent activity. Reach Beartooth Electric at 406-446-2310.
